Background

Recognizing the need for quality Day Care for the children of working parents, Kathy Corrigan’s School of Gymnastics is now offering a full Day Care Program. The hours of the program are 7:00 am until 6:00 PM for infants through 5 years.

The school continually maintains its reputation for quality and excellence in helping children develop not only physically but intellectually, socially & emotionally.

Philosophy

Our Philosophy at the school is that when the mind and the body are developed together in an atmosphere of warmth and fun, a child’s readiness for learning is enhanced. Therefore, each fun filled day will include a half day Pre-School program, Gymnastics instruction, and Physical Education related games and activities. We quote the ancient philosopher Plato: “A Sound Mind in a Sound Body.”

Goals

Our primary goal is to give the children entrusted to us, the best possible Day Care available by providing them with a warm, loving, fun-filled and stimulating environment.

Our secondary goal is for Mom & Dad. We recognize the trust and confidence you have placed in us and we offer you the knowledge that your child will be safe, secure and lovingly cared for by our highly qualified staff trained in Child Development.

Daily Activities

Physical fitness and gymnastics are emphasized in our unique Day Care program. Through the medium of gymnastics, rhythms, ball handling skills, parachute play and other Physical Education-related activities, your child will develop gross motor skills as well as perceptual skills, strength, coordination, flexibility, grace, poise, agility, balance and kinesthetic awareness. By developing these components of physical fitness, your child will have a good base and a head start in whatever sport activities he or she chooses to participate in as the years go on.

The academic part of our program introduces the child to “the world around him,” science and living things, people in the community, numbers, colors, shapes and the alphabet. We encourage the development of communication skills (listening, speaking, writing and reading) in our strong language arts program through the use of stories, finger play, songs and dramatizations. It is felt that social and emotional growth is achieved in conjunction with academic growth in an atmosphere of physical, social and intellectual stimulation.

The cultural part of our program includes children’s rhythms and creative arts and crafts designed to help children express their own individuality.

Lunch & Snacks

In order to keep weekly tuition at a minimum, we do not provide lunch at the Day Care Center. Lunch should be brought from home and clearly labeled with the child's name. Please give the lunch to your child’s Teacher when you check in each day so that it can be refrigerated.

We do provide juice and mid morning and afternoon snacks. If your child has any allergies to a particular food, etc. please be sure to notify the staff.

Quiet Time & Rest

Age-appropriate periods of quiet time activities and rest are provided for daily. If your child brings a personal blanket or pillow, it must be labeled and laundered weekly. Cots are provided by the center.

Transportation & Pick-Up

Transportation must be provided by the parents. If someone other than a parent/guardian is to pick up your child, we must have written documentation to that effect. This requirement is for the safety of your child. Notarized Court orders must be on file at the school regarding parental custody matters.

Medications

The staff of the Gymnastics Day Care shall not administer prescription or non-prescription medication to a child without the written order of a physician. A standing order is good for up to one year for non-prescription medications. Prescription medications are dispensed only from the original container which indicates the medication is for the specific child, dosage, number of times per day, and the numbers of days the medication is to be administered.
No medication, whether prescription or non- prescription, shall be administered to a child without written parental authorization. The reason the medication has been prescribed shall also be noted by the parent.
Topical non-prescription medications such as sunscreen, petroleum jelly or other ointments may be administered to a child only with written parental authorization

Extra Clothing

Since our program is a very active one including both indoor and outdoor play, you might want to keep an extra set of clothing, labeled with the child’s name at the center. This is a requirement if your child is not potty trained. Also, please bring in a labeled smock to be kept at the center for days that finger painting is scheduled.
